It’s folic acid awareness week and I can not express enough how important folic acid is for your health. Especially if you plan on becoming pregnant. During pregnancy, the first 12 weeks are very vital. Making sure you take your folic acid before, during and after pregnancy to avoid having to worry about lacking in this area. And to cut your risk of NTDs (Neural tube defects) this is a birth defect of the brain and spinal cord. Scary I know.. but this happens to about 3,000 pregnancies a year in the U.S. So if you plan on having children please take your folic acid, even if you don’t plan on it protect yourself at all times.
I can definitely speak on this, I am always lacking in this area. Eating folic acid foods has helped me out, because it is very easy to forget to take your vitamins trust me I know.Sometimes we have to think about more than ourselves and do what is important. So have you taken your vitamins today…NO…well what are you waiting for 🙂
