16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[a] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[b] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galations 5:16-24
When I was younger I would let my emotions control me. My days were lived angry, frustrated, jealous and always looking over my shoulder. My motto was ” What you do to me, I will do back 10x worse” because I wanted to protect my heart as much as I could from anyone. I was so lost and confused I, needed someone to save me because I didn’t know how to deal with my emotions on my own. Talking to other people helped me learn why I have those emotions and why I always put up a wall but talking with God helped me knock those walls down.
Our parents, grandparents, and others pray for us all the time but it’s not the real deal until you seal the deal with God yourself. You then will begin to see things more clearly and notice the things you use to do now has another door with change floating in the atmosphere. It will show us how we should be expressing our emotions and feelings and have a fruitful spirit and not one of steel. Our flesh wants to run us over and cause chaos in our lives, but we just have to keep letting our light shine where ever we are. Continue to show love, be faithful, have joy.. peace and patience. Keep your eyes on the prize.
