LaLanne Challenge: Juice #1 Carrot Prime

When people think of juicing they automatically think ” I’m not starving myself or vegetables, No thanks”  but what they don’t understand is juicing is very beneficial to your health and a great way to add an extra kick into your diet. When we eat food we absorb itcarrots and it benefits us well, but we also have to go through a process and then release it through our liver. With juicing it goes directly into our bloodstreams and we absorb the nutrients because juicing allow the fruit and vegetables to be broken down already so all your body has to do is digest it for you.

Okay, so now that I’ve ranted about how juicing is good for you let’s get to the punch!

Taste: ** FYI if you don’t like pulp a juicer is needed for this. I had to make my juices in a Nutri bullet until I order me a juicer. My juice had loads of pulp which I don’t mind because it will provide more fiber. I believe the celery is more potent in this juice even though you only have 1 stalk it still creates a strong taste.

The taste of the celery is worth it if you knew it was an anti-inflammatory agent and protects your digestive tract from inflammation.  No worries if you don’t want to juice celery then steam it, it is one vegetable that you can steam and it still contains most of its nutrients.

This juice is all veggies so it is great for weight loss, stomach ulcers, and cancer prevention.

The recipe for Carrot Prime is pictured below, I hope you give it a try! Let me know if you tried it and whether you used a blender (more fiber) or a juicer.

Total Juicing Challenge: (Over 125 Juices)

I love juicing so much I have decided to do a challenge. Many people are probably familiar with the Total Juicing book by Elaine LaLanne it has over 125 healthful ways to use fresh fruit and vegetables. In this book, they talk about the many benefits juicing has for your health. Since I have a Chronic Illness I am always looking for ways to keep me motivated to staying healthy during my journey.

I have decided to create a challenge, it’s not a 30-day challenge or 60-day challenge. It is a challenge to make all the juices provided in this book (Over 125). I will be doing the stencil.instagram-post (11)following:

  1. Posting (2) juices a week
  2. Taking pictures of how my juice turned out
  3. Giving you my honest opinion of the taste
  4. Providing information on its benefits.

I hope by doing this, you may at least try one that will help you or a family member and improve your/their quality of life. Be on the look out for (2) post each week!

See you Soon!

1- Day Juice Restart: How I restart my body while dealing with a Chronic Illness

Lately, my body as been expressing how much it hates me! All my joints have been hurting so much I could just tell my body was about to go into a full blown flare up. Since I don’t take my meds anymore given for my Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia I, kinda of know when my body is telling me I need to do something different. My heart has been acting up lately, I have a heart murmur and a leaky valve, and every time my blood gets severely low

My heart has been acting up lately, I have a heart murmur and a leaky valve, and every time my blood gets severely low it starts to give me problems such as; anxiety, shortness of breath and light-headedness. On top of the joint pain, I don’t think I can deal with it all. So, I started thinking of a way to build my blood and rid myself of tho20170206_112352-2se horrible toxins. I was not eating so well since my hormones were still going nuts after the miscarriage. I search on the internet for juices like Suja juices and others, but I wanted to do it now. I went down to my local Albertson’s and they had a few new drinks from Bolthhouse farm so I decided to create my own juice restart.

I would like to share what I did with everyone else! It is as follows: ***I drink spring water through the day, no less than half my body weight and Smooth move tea by Traditional Medicinals

Morning- First I made a cup of hot apple(with the mother) cider vinegar tea; made with 8oz of hot water, slice of lemon and a tsp of raw honey.

7 A.M.- Bolthouse Farm Juice (Berries & Green Veggies) it consists of; 2 cups of cucumbers, 1 cup of grapes, 3/4 banana, 24 blueberries and 1 cup of spinach.

9 A.M- Bolthhouse Farm Juice (Daily Green) – this is grosss! beware it consists of; 1 1/2 apples,1 3/4 cucumber, 1/3 celery, 1/2 kiwi, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup of kale, spinach & romaine and a squeeze of lemon.

11 A.M- Bolthouse Farm Juice (1915) it consists of; apple, romaine, cucumber, spinach, kale, and lemon.

1 P.M-  Bolthouse Farm Juice (100% Carrot) I love carrot juice so much, I couldn’t pass this one. This consists of 11 1/2 of juiced carrots, YUM!

3 P.M- Bolthouse Farm Juice (1915) consists of; Beets, carrots, orange and lemon, this taste just like it was from a garden.

5 P.M- I did another Bolthouse Farm Juice (Berries & Green Veggies) it consists of; 2 cups of cucumbers, 1 cup of grapes, 3/4 banana, 24 blueberries and 1 cup of spinach.

7 P.M- instead of juicing I made me a green salad mixed with cabbage; for dressing, I mixed up olive oil, dash of salt, and squeezed half a lemon.

I can say after doing this, I feel a lot better. My healthy choices don’t stop here, I will continue to cleanse my body and make better choices in the kitchen. I feel that healing your gut is always the first step. What you put into your body can either make you better or slow you down.

Stay Blessed!

Lazy Girl Green Juice

So this morning I was not feeling my best, but I still knew I needed to get my juice fix. I slowly walked into the kitchen dreading to chop up everything I wanted to blend.

So I decided since I, already had the green goodness and carrot juice why not just blend it together with some added spinach. What a great way to blend in less than a minute.

It taste the same but with a little extra jazz that the green goodness had. Great for on the go add spinach for extra dose of iron. 🙂

Lazy Girl Green Juice

1 cup of Green Goodness

1 cup of Carrot Juice

2 handfuls of spinach ( less spinach if you don’t like pulp)

Makes enough for 2-3 cups
