Just For Today
Today while talking on the phone to my mother, I was explaining to her how I wanted to purchase another car due to the other one giving me such a headache. Here I am scrolling looking at the best cars that meet all my requirements and then if you are like me when browsing on the internet you start out looking at one thing and then it turns into looking at other material items (the struggle). Well, while doing so I received a reality check text, we all get those forwards that we never forward well, it was one of those. I usually don’t read them, but today I did.
It was explaining how so many missionaries were going to be killed and so many churches were bombed, being a Christian woman this really bothers me. I know I am in a different part of the world and we have different privileges in the U.S. but that doesn’t make me any better. Here I am thinking about the next car I want to purchase and buying a home, and they are getting ready to take their last breath due to their beliefs. Many people take life for granted because the chaos is not around them or it doesn’t hit close to home. Reality check! The chaos is here it’s just in different forms and it is showing itself every day.
I write this JUST FOR TODAY because sometimes life moves fast and we lose sight of the important things. By important, I mean the purpose when the blessings keep coming in don’t let the purpose linger to the side. Stay focused and refreshed because one day the world could be passing around a forward about your city.
I was driving home from work a few nights ago and was thinking to myself about how sometimes we may feel like we are getting tugged back and forth. We are getting tossed and torn because it’s a battle going on for us. We could be in a wonderful place in our lives and within seconds get torn down and back into a slump.
Remember when you were a kid and you had this special toy that you really admired. Think how you felt when your older or younger sibling or cousin began to play with it. You would step us against them and begin to play a game of tug of war and you may say “It’s mine or I had it first. I began to wonder if that’s how God feels about us.
God created us in his image, we all were his first since birth. Since we were born in sin it immediately became a game of tug of war. God has this plan to prosper you and not to harm you when satan has the plan to deceive you and destroy you.
There are so many things happening in our lives right now that we are feeling torn and worn out and ready to throw in the towel because of the tugging is greater than we ever imagined it would be. The enemy wants to hold onto you like a leech for as long as he can because if he let’s go he knows what’s at stake. You know those cops that get into blind spots and hurry up and cut off their lights so they can catch you when you least expect it. That’s just like your enemy, he wants to hide in the dark and catch you slipping.
Where there is evil there is good, sorrow there is joy, pain there is a comfort, the enemy there is God and he is fighting for you much more than the enemy is because he knows the plans he has for you, he knows your potential, nothing good can come from evil. He knows that if you surrendered all how much he can do in your life, but he is aware that the enemy is on his job as well. So he tugs even harder because he is jealous for you!
Life’s challenges won’t stop, but God provides you with tools to help you get through them. He wants you all to himself, just like you wanted your favorite toy all to yourself. You are his favorite so if you can feel the tug know that God is fighting for you. He doesn’t want to see you give up, he doesn’t want you to feel alone. He’s saying “I’m right here, my child”. The voice is there, you just have to listen and let him guide you on the right path.
1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, 3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.Psalms 2:1-12
There is NO way to Win
We live in a world where people want to feel powerful. They want to be in control and rule as much as they can. We follow all these rules that have been set before us, but yet they will not follow the Bible. People wonder why is there so much rage in the world? People are fighting against the word of God they feel if God is taken out of the equation this world would be so much better. They can try all they want but there is no way they can win.
There is this mindset today of subtraction. Subtract God from things and the world will be a better place but in reality, its subtract God from things and the world will be chaos, it’s evidence is present now. We are subtracting when we should be adding. There is no difference in the rebellion toward God from many years ago, they are all fighting for power and a way around the true gospel”All these things for nothing” WHY?
In our own lives, we may rebel against God. As some of us say running from our calling. As Christian, we go through our times in life when we just want to run away and never come back. Who are we kidding? Have we not passed the stage of packing up and having to run away? God is just looking down at us laughing and shaking his head because the more we run the more we are actually hurting ourselves. Remember there is no way pass God. Everything we need is in God, everything we want God has, and everything we have is because of God.
Always Remember: Obedience is better than Sacrifice
